Crispy Tater Tot Appetizer Cups loaded with melted cheddar, smoky bacon, and creamy sour cream, perfect for parties or game-day snacks! These bite-sized delights are easy to make, endlessly customizable, and guaranteed to impress your guests.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups frozen tater tots (about 32 oz)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup cooked bacon, crumbled (optional)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (for topping)
  • 2 tbsp chopped green onions or chives (for garnish)
  • Non-stick cooking spray

Instructions

  • Preheat the Oven Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Spray a mini muffin tin with non-stick cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  • Form the Tater Tot Cups Place 2-3 tater tots into each cup of the muffin tin. Firmly press down with a spoon or small glass to form a cup shape.
  • Bake the Tater Tots Bake for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven, re-press the tots into their cup shape, and bake for another 10 minutes until golden and crispy.
  • Add Toppings Sprinkle cheddar cheese and cooked bacon (if using) into each cup. Return the tray to the oven and bake for 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts.
  • Garnish and Serve Allow the tater tot cups to cool slightly. Use a fork or small spatula to carefully remove them from the tin. Add a dollop of sour cream and garnish with green onions or chives.

Notes

  • Make It Vegetarian: Skip the bacon and load up on more cheese or veggie toppings like diced bell peppers.
  • Alternative Cheeses: Try Monterey Jack or Pepper Jack for a different flavor profile.
  • Dipping Ideas: Pair with ranch dressing, spicy ketchup, or sriracha mayo for extra fun.
