Description
This Lazy Lasagna Casserole has all the cheesy, meaty, comforting goodness of traditional lasagna—without the hassle. Made with simple pantry staples and no layering required!
Ingredients
â–¢ 1 lb ground beef
â–¢ 1/2 lb ground turkey (optional, for lighter flavor)
â–¢ 24 oz jar of marinara or pasta sauce
â–¢ 8 oz uncooked pasta (penne, rotini, or ziti work great)
â–¢ 1 cup cottage cheese or ricotta cheese
â–¢ 1 large egg
â–¢ 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
â–¢ 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
â–¢ 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
â–¢ 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
â–¢ Salt & pepper, to taste
â–¢ Chopped parsley or basil, for garnish (optional)
Instructions
1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13 inch casserole dish.
2. Cook pasta 2 minutes less than package instructions; drain and set aside.
3. In a large skillet, cook ground beef and turkey until browned. Drain excess fat.
4. Stir in marinara sauce, garlic powder, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 5 minutes.
5. In a bowl, mix cottage cheese (or ricotta) with egg and Parmesan.
6. In a large bowl, combine cooked pasta, meat sauce, and cheese mixture. Mix until evenly coated.
7. Transfer the mixture to your prepared baking dish. Top with shredded mozzarella.
8. Cover with foil and bake for 20 minutes.
9. Remove foil and bake another 10–15 minutes, or until cheese is melted and bubbly.
10. Garnish with fresh parsley or basil and serve hot!
Notes
• You can prep this casserole ahead and refrigerate overnight.
• Great freezer meal—assemble and freeze before baking.
• Swap cottage cheese for ricotta or cream cheese based on your preference.
