Ingredients
For the Stir-Fry
â–¢ 1 lb flank steak or sirloin, thinly sliced against the grain
â–¢ 3 cups broccoli florets
â–¢ 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (divided)
â–¢ 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
â–¢ 3 garlic cloves, minced
**For the Sauce**
â–¢ 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce
â–¢ 2 tablespoons oyster sauce
â–¢ 1 tablespoon brown sugar
â–¢ 1 teaspoon sesame oil
â–¢ 1/4 cup beef broth or water
â–¢ 2 teaspoons cornstarch
**Optional Garnish**
â–¢ Sesame seeds
â–¢ Sliced green onions
Instructions
1. In a small bowl, whisk together soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, beef broth, and cornstarch. Set aside.
2. Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
3. Add the sliced beef and stir-fry for 2–3 minutes until browned. Remove and set aside.
4. Add the remaining oil to the pan. Stir-fry the garlic and ginger for 30 seconds until fragrant.
5. Add the broccoli and a splash of water. Cover and steam for 2–3 minutes until crisp-tender.
6. Return the beef to the pan. Pour the sauce over everything and stir to coat. Cook for 1–2 minutes, until the sauce thickens.
7. Remove from heat. Garnish with sesame seeds and green onions. Serve hot with rice.
Notes
• Slice beef thin and against the grain for the most tender bite.
• Don’t overcook the broccoli—you want it crisp-tender.
• Great with jasmine rice or noodles!
